Being the self-proclaimed "black sheep", Kayla grew up in a family of lawyers, surgeons, professors, and therapists. Finding her niche in the arts, Kayla attended high school at The Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, KY, majoring in Dance with a Musical Theatre minor. She then received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre from Northern Kentucky University.
During her summers in college, Kayla worked professionally with RWS Entertainment Group and regional theatres. After graduation, Kayla traveled and performed all over North and South America, the Caribbean, and Europe with Norwegian Cruise Lines before relocating to New York City in 2016. From there Kayla hit the ground running, securing her first New York job just three days later with the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR STARRING THE ROCKETTES. She then went on to be in the very first Black and second American cast to ever be on South Korea's Broadway with DREAMGIRLS.
AND NOW? Kayla is currently pinching herself everyday whilst leading the Second National Tour of THE BOOK OF MORMON as Nabulungi.
In between auditions and performances, Kayla spends her time laughing at her own terrible jokes and focusing on fitness. She is a fitness motivator at Broadway Bodies in Kips Bay teaching her "shame-free superstars" everything from Broadway dance to Beyonce.
